Founded in 1952, the Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir has won 13 consecutive championships of the Guangzhou School Chorus Festival and has been awarded the honorary title of “Model Choir” in China. It is also a 12-time champion at the World Choir Games, making the Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir one of the most prominent middle school choirs in China.
Xie Mingjing, Permanent Conductor
Xie Mingjing is a national model teacher and a master grade music teacher in China’s Guangdong province. Over the course of his 35 year career in music education and choir directing, he has been recognised by the National Ministry of Education and the Guangdong Provincial Education Department with the honorary titles of ‘National Excellent Music Teacher’, ‘National Advanced Music Education Worker’, ‘Guangdong Excellent Music Teacher’ and ‘National Excellent Model Teacher’. In 2002, Mr Xie won the Excellent Conductor Award in the world’s second Olympic Choral Festival Competition. He also served on the judging panels at the fourth and sixth World Olympic Choral Festival finals.
Xie Mingjing is the executive director of the Chinese Chorus Association, the vice director of the Children’s Vocal Chorus Committee of the Chinese Chorus Association, and the vice president of Guangdong Chorus Association. He also is a Guest Professor in the Department of Music, Guangdong Institute of Education, Art Director and Chief Conductor of Guangdong Youth Radio Choir.
