World Choral Festival

Opening Gala Concert – Sounds of Australia
Featuring Sydney Children’s Choir, Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir, and Gondwana Latitude 34, alongside Australian choirs Hunter Singers, Luminescence Children’s Choir, Resonance of Birralee, Valla Voices, and Young Adelaide Voices. Includes the world premiere of a new work by American composer Nico Muhly.

Closing Gala – Sounds of the World
Bringing together eight of the best children’s and young people’s choirs from around the globe, alongside the Sydney Children’s Choir. Each will appear in a solo bracket, and then combine to sing Christopher Gordon’s Peace on Earth. This could be the greatest variety of choirs you’ll ever hear under one roof!

Discovery Series
Experience the indigenous rhythms and songs of Australia’s Torres Strait Islands and Indonesia’s Aceh province; expose yourself to the visceral power of Japanese Taiko drumming; immerse yourself in a cappella singing of the highest calibre; and explore the music and culture of Aboriginal Australia. Every workshop offered twice, so you won’t miss out.

Venture behind the studio doors and experience a rehearsal with each of the International Guest Choirs, and many of the best Australia has to offer. Learn the secrets of effective rehearsal technique, and how to create the best, most productive atmosphere for choral rehearsals.
